LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Twenty-eight of the nation’s top Division III softball programs will converge on Columbus, Ga., this weekend – March 8-10 – as the NFCA and Columbus Sports Commission combine forces to host the 2013 NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic.
The South Commons Complex, located directly adjacent to the former home of softball during the 1996 Olympic Games, will host the likes of 2012 national champion Pacific Lutheran and numerous other NFCA Top 25 ranked teams in UT-Tyler, Christopher Newport, Illinois Wesleyan, Central College, Linfield, Emory, Trine, Ohio Northern, St. Thomas, Ithaca, ETBU, Pacific Lutheran and Cortland State among the 28 total teams competing.
Teams will compete in round-robin play in seven, four-team pools. Following pool play over Friday-Saturday, bracket action will begin on Saturday afternoon with Gold, Silver, Bronze and Copper brackets.
The 2013 NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic will start play on Friday, March 8, at 10 a.m. ET and is scheduled to conclude Sunday afternoon. Tickets can be purchased at the South Commons Softball Complex beginning Friday, March 8, with adult prices $25 for a full-event pass or $10 for a single-day admission. Groups of 10 or more can enter the complex for just $5 each.
