COLUMBUS, Ga. – Bracket play got underway on Saturday at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic at the South Commons Complex in Columbus, Ga., with teams competing for event crowns in Gold, Silver and Bronze brackets and a four-squad Copper division round robin.

Trine (beat No. 15 Pacific Lutheran, 5-2), No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan (beat No. 3 UT-Tyler, 3-0), Claremont Mudd-Scripps (beat tied-No. 25 East Texas Baptist, 4-3) and No. 9 Linfield (beat No. 21 St. Thomas, 8-0 in 6 inn.) represent the final four remaining in contention for the Gold bracket title following Saturday evening’s action.

No. 4 Emory (beat Gustavus Adolphus, 2-1), Piedmont (beat Willamette, 5-0), No. 7 Christopher Newport (beat Fontbonne, 7-4) and Kean (beat Alma, 5-3) are still in the running for the Silver bracket title.

Tied-No. 25 Washington University-Missouri (beat No. 17 Ohio Northern, 5-4), Methodist (beat Mississippi College, 7-6), DePauw (beat St. John Fisher, 4-0) and No. 23 Cortland State (beat No. 10 Central, 7-5) will battle it out on Sunday for the Bronze bracket crown.

No. 22 Ithaca, Husson, Neumann and Hiram are playing a round-robin format in the Copper division to wrap-up the field of 28 programs.

Teams completed round-robin action in their seven, four-team pools on Saturday morning. Bracket action began on Saturday afternoon in Gold, Silver, Bronze and Copper divisions and will conclude on Sunday with third-place and third-place consolation contests beginning at 2 p.m. ET.

Adult tickets for a single day admission can be purchased for $10 at the South Commons Softball Complex, while groups of 10 or more can enter the complex for just $5 each.
