LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Katie Hines of No. 8 Texas Woman’s University and Morgan Foley of No. 2 Indianapolis have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 27, respectively.

A junior outfielder/pitcher for the Pioneers, Hines led her team to a three-game road sweep at Cameron by hitting .500 (7-for-14) with six runs scored, five HR’s and 13 RBIs while slugging at an impressive 1.643 clip. The Beaumont, Texas, native and reigning Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week knocked in the winning run for Texas Woman’s in all three match-ups, and with her five HR’s during the series, established a new TWU single-season HR record with 16 big flies. For the season Hines now owns a .415 batting average while leading the squad in HR’s (16), RBIs (51) and slugging (.924). She’s also recorded a 9-2 record from the circle with a 2.26 ERA and 43 K’s.

Currently the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, Foley recorded a pair of impressive pitching performances last week in helping Indianapolis top both Bellarmine and McKendree. The Louisville, Ky., product was 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA, two complete games and 28 strikeouts over just 13 innings of work.  Included in her efforts was her second no-hitter of 2013, coming during a six-inning triumph over McKendree, and a three-hit performance with a career-high 16 strikeouts while returning to her hometown to face home-standing Bellarmine.  For the year Foley is now 12-2 overall with a 1.08 ERA, 10 complete games, five solo shutouts and a team-leading 144 strikeouts over just 84 frames of work.
