LOUISVILLE, Ky. – At No. 1 for the 10th consecutive week, Northern (Md.) finished in the top spot in the final USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 poll of the 2013 campaign as released by the Association on Thursday. The Patriots secured the Maryland 3A state title for the sixth time in a row.
John Curtis (La.) won the Louisiana 2A state crown and suffered only one loss all season in finishing nationally in the second position. No. 3 Logan (Calif.) took the trophy for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) North Coast Section Division I, completing the year with a 26-1 record.
Alexander Central (N.C.) climbed one slot into fourth in the final rankings after winning the North Carolina 4A state title. Rounding out the top five for the season was Bishop O’Connell (Va.), which won the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I title.
The USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 poll is compiled by state representatives from across the country. Records for this week’s poll include all games played through June 10, 2013.
