Lock Haven sophomore shortstop Ilia Lopez has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II Player of the Week for the week ending Mar. 25, the association announced Wednesday.

Lopez led a breakout of the top-ranked Lady Eagles’ offense, hitting .588 (10-for-17) over a five-game stretch with a double, four home runs, 10 runs scored and 12 RBIs as Lock Haven moved to 18-1 on the year and extended its season-opening win streak to 16 games.

The Bloomsburg, Pa., native started on a solid note as she went 3-for-3 against 22nd-ranked USC Upstate. In the win, she homered twice and doubled, driving in six runs and scoring three more times.

She followed that outing up with a double against 16th-ranked Gannon, and a 2-for-4 showing against No. 19 Shippensburg in which she doubled and drove in a run.

The second-year infielder concluded the week by going 4-for-7 with a pair of doubles, two home runs, five RBIs and five runs scored in wins over Northwood and Millersville.

Lopez's honor marks the second for an LHU player this season after Kristin Erb garnered the accolade on Mar. 7.
