Central Arizona Community College, the NJCAA Division I national champion, placed five players on All-America teams, which were announced Thursday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Central Arizona was led by a pair of sophomore first team selections, third baseman Bridgette McNulty and left fielder Justine Pineda.
McNulty hit .483 on the season and had 84 RBIs, which ranks among the highest in the nation. Pineda posted a .414 batting average during the 2005 campaign and hit a team-best 12 home runs.
Gulf Coast (Fla.) Community College placed three players on the first team, led by freshman pitcher Angela Lopez, who posted a .850 ERA in 140 innings pitched this season. Teammates Blythe Golden and Brittany Walters were also given first team honors.
Pima (Ariz.) Community College’s Erin Slettvet was named the 2005 Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year.
