Columbia Basin College and top-ranked Lower Columbia College led the way as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA 2005 NWAACC All-America teams were announced Wednesday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. 

Nina Doane, who led the Hawks on the defensive side of the ball, was named to the All-America team after winning 28 games and posting an impressive 1.57 ERA this season. Teammates Katie Strokes and Jennie McCourtie, both of whom finished the season near the top of the NWAACC offensive charts, joined Doane on the 2005 squad. 

Regular season No. 1 Lower Columbia placed two players on the All-America team. Jenn Pass, who was undefeated from the circle this season, earned her spot among her division’s best after posting a 1.38 ERA. Melissa Norton was also name to the All-American team after hitting an NWACC-best .557 on the season. 

NWAACC Tournament Champions Clackamas Community College brought two All-Americans to the field in Cijag Koanui and Casey Middagh. Koanui, who hit .391, and Middagh, who posted a .351 batting average, led the Cougars offensively this season. 

In just their first season, head coach Leah Francis and her Bellevue College staff were named the 2005 NWAACC Coaching Staff of the Year. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 24-8 league record and won a school-first North Division Title.
