Oregon State sophomore Cambria Miranda has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week for the week of Apr. 17-23, the association announced Wednesday.
In three victories over top-ranked UCLA and then-No. 14 Washington, Miranda hit .556 (5-for-9) with a double, three home runs, five RBIs and five runs scored.
In the 2-0 upset of the top-ranked Bruins, OSU’s first at Easton Stadium since 1999, the Camarillo, Calif., native went 1-for-2, with her lone hit being a home run that ignited a run of three consecutive contests with a round-tripper.
She followed that performance with a solid doubleheader against the Huskies. In the two victories, she combined to go 4-for-7 at the plate with four runs scored, a double, two home runs and four RBIs. She also added a stolen base in the opening game of the twin bill as the Beavers knocked off UW in consecutive road games for the first time.
The team leader in home runs with 11, Miranda moved just three shy of the school’s single-season record for runs scored as she helped the Beavers to the program’s best start through the opening 40 games of the season.
