LOUISVILLE, Ky. – By virtue of a perfect record from the pitching circle, freshman Emily Soles of Prince Avenue Christian School in Athens, Ga., has been selected as the MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week for October 8.
The pitcher/outfielder tossed all 42 innings for the Wolverines during the past week, registering a 6-0 mark with a 1.17 ERA and 57 strikeouts. She also helped her own cause at the plate by hitting .389 (7-for-18) overall with three RBIs.
Soles fired a two-hit shutout with 11 K’s during a 10-0 rout of Hebron Christian Academy (GA), struck out 13 while allowing no earned runs in a 6-2 victory over Towns County (GA) and was 3-for-3 at the dish with a pair of RBIs during a comeback, 5-4 (8 inn.) triumph over George Walton Academy (GA).
Overall for the 19-10 Wolverines, Soles has recorded a 16-9 record with a 1.76 ERA and 155 K’s. She has struck out 10 or more batters in a single game seven times during the fall campaign, including twice in the past week.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week’s award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
