Emporia State pitcher Melissa Stevens has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week for the week of March 21-27.

Stevens, a junior from Lenexa, Kan., helped the eighth-ranked Hornets to a pair of victories last week. She tossed a no-hitter against Nebraska-Omaha on Friday in the Missouri Western Regional Crossover and struck out 19 against the Mavericks, allowing just one walk.

Her 19 strikeouts tied her own school record and was the second most in any MIAA game. She also pitched a three-hit win over No. 18 Central Oklahoma, giving up just one run and four hits.

On the season, Stevens has compiled a 13-1 record and a stellar 0.25 ERA.
