COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - LSU-Eunice and Brookdale topped the first editions of the NJCAA Division II and III polls, respectively, while Yavapai held on to the top spot in Division I for the third straight week, according to releases put out by the association this week.
Yavapai has now earned the top spot in each Division I regular season poll that has been released this season. The Roughriders are currently on a 12-game win streak and have won 19 of their last 20 games.
LSU-Eunice has used a 33-6 start to its 2011 campaign to catapult itself from being unranked in the preseason poll to being the No. 1 team in all of Division II. This marks the second straight season that the Bengals have earned the top spot in the poll, in just the program's sixth year of existence.
The defending Division III national champions Brookdale were able to use a 12-1 start to become the only NJCAA preseason No. 1 team that kept its ranking in the first regular season poll. The Jersey Blues have now won nine straight, with their only loss of the year coming to a Division II team.
