LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For her outstanding play last week, Bishop Neumann (Neb.) senior Jessie Briley is this week’s MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week for contests played Oct. 5-11.

A no-hitter and an eight-inning two-hit shutout highlighted Briley’s 3-0 week in the circle. She capped her tremendous week off with a no-no against Yutan-Mead, facing just one batter over the minimum. Briley struck out nine and walked in a 5-0 victory. A day earlier in a 1-0 triumph over the same Yutan-Mead squad, she surrendered just two hits, struck out 11 and did not walk a batter as the Cavaliers were able to push a run across in the eighth for the victory. In 15 innings against the Patriots, she did not allow a run, struck out 20, walked one and gave up just two hits.

Briley’s other appearance resulted in a two-hit, 10-strikeout performance versus Raymond Central. She surrendered an unearned run and walked two in the 4-1 win. In addition to her stellar pitching, Briley helped out at the plate with at least one hit in Bishop Neumann’s four wins. She went 2-for-3 with a double in game one against Yutan-Mead, and also tripled, scored and registered a RBI versus North Bend Central.
