LOUISVILLE, Ky. –Angelo State’s Courtney Barnhill and Southern New Hampshire’s Madyson Barone were named 2019 Louisville/Slugger NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Week honorees for games played March 11-17. It marks the second selection this season for Barnhill.

Barnhill played a pivotal role in Angelo State’s 5-0 week against St. Mary’s and Midwestern State. The junior outfielder hit .571 (8-for-15) with two doubles, a triple, three home runs, nine RBI and eight runs scored. Two of her long balls were game-winners, breaking deadlocks in games one and two against the Mustangs. Barnhill recorded three multi-hit and multi-RBI games, slugged 1.500 and registered a .667 on-base percentage. Against the Rattlers, the Lubbock, Texas native homered in game one and doubled in game two to give the Rambelles some cushion in a pair of tight contests.

Barone, who hails from Halifax, Mass., went 4-0 with a 0.50 ERA and 31 strikeouts, keying the Penmen in circle during a 7-1 week in Florida. The junior righty twirled two shutouts, scattered 15 hits, walked three and held her opposition to a .159 batting average in 28 innings of work. Both of Barone’s shutouts, were three-hitters against Caldwell and West Chester, fanning seven and issuing one walk in each start. The NE-10 Pitcher of the Week fanned a season-high nine batters in a three-hit complete game effort versus Molloy.
