LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Rowan’s Ashley DeYoung and Fontbonne’s Madison Leonard have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

DeYoung, a junior designated player from Oakland, N.J., batted .889 (8-for-9) this week for the 14th-ranked Profs. The Indian Hills High graduate scored five runs, hit three homers and drove in 10 runs. She also walked three times and was hit by a pitch four times, while not striking out in 16 plate appearances. DeYoung had a hit and RBI in every game for Rowan.

Senior right-hander Leonard, meanwhile, tossed her first career no-hitter and won all four games in the circle for the Griffins last week. She walked one and hit one batter while striking out a career-high 15 in her 5-0 no-hit victory on Sunday at Spalding. For the week, the Seckman High product allowed three runs and 12 hits, while fanning 35 batters over 24 innings.
