LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sixteen players from seven schools in three member regions have garnered 2017 NFCA National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III All-America Team recognition, the Association revealed on Tuesday.

Rock Valley College, which went 57-2 and won its record fourth-straight NJCAA Division III national championship earlier this month, leads all teams again this season with five honorees — one more than last year. Third-place national finisher Herkimer County Community College, the national runner-up the previous three years, again placed three of its players on the team.

Brookdale Community College, Corning Community College and Rowan College at Gloucester County each had two selections, while Monroe Community College and Suffolk County Community College-Selden had one choice apiece.

Eleven sophomores and five freshmen are on the team, with seven selections in the North Region, five in the Midwest and four in the East.

Two sophomores and a freshman fill the pitching spots. Two-time All-American Olivia Fluehr’s 0.96 earned-run average led NJCAA Division III this season and her 21 wins in the circle for Rock Valley ranked third nationally. At the plate, Fluehr batted .491 with 48 runs, 82 hits, 34 doubles, four triples, 10 homers and a national-best 91 runs batted in.

Her Golden Eagle teammate Kelsie Packard was the national leader in strikeouts (209) and ranked second in NJCAA Division III in both wins (23) and ERA (1.29). Opposing batters hit just .135 against her this season. Meanwhile, Herkimer freshman Keeanna Wolcik was a perfect 15-0 in the circle with an 1.63 ERA, 12 complete games and 138 strikeouts in 85.2 innings.

In the catcher category, Rowan sophomore Lynnsie Collins earned All-America status again this season, batting .413 with 52 hits, 16 doubles, two triples, a homer and 37 RBI. She was joined by Rock Valley sophomore Hannah Long, who also earned Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year honors by batting .430 with 16 doubles, three triples, a homer and 40 RBI on offense and 220 putouts, 12 assists and just two errors (.991 fielding percentage) on defense.

At the five infield spots, sophomore Haley Williamson of Corning is the lone repeat All-American after batting .523 with 40 runs, 56 hits and 17 doubles. She’s joined by fellow sophomores Jessica Parente of Suffolk and Nikki Alfano of Brookdale and freshmen Madason Shaw of Rock Valley and Shannon Moore of Herkimer.

Parente hit .488 with 49 runs, 62 hits and 12 doubles, while Alfano collected 73 hits and 63 runs and batted .483. Shaw stole 19 bases in 20 attempts and hit .381 with 16 extra-base hits and Moore only struck out four times while batting .545 with 61 hits, 17 doubles, six triples, three homers and 50 RBI.

In the outfield, New Balance/NFCA Golden Shoe honoree Taylor Fry, a sophomore from Herkimer, leads the way on the strength of her 32 stolen bases, .478 average, 47 runs, 66 hits and four doubles. She is joined by Rock Valley freshman Emily Cox (.579, 55 hits, 16 doubles, five triples, two homers, 38 RBI), Brookdale sophomore Taylor Mennie (.401, 52 runs, 69 hits, nation-best 16 homers, 72 RBI) and Rowan freshman Nicolette Gentile (.491, 56 hits, three doubles, five triples, 15 steals).

Corning sophomore Samantha Mennig is the choice at the Utility spot and Monroe sophomore Tori Thuman rounds out the team at the Designated Player/At-Large position. Mennig collected 46 RBI while batting .521 with 54 runs, 61 hits, 19 doubles and 10 homers. Thuman hit .521 with 49 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, seven homers and 43 RBI.
